Devlog Week 5 - Production sprint week 2


Hello everyone!

This week we have been very busy on making our game work and creating art assets to fill up the world.

Melting building shader:

We worked on a shader that blends between two textures.  Based on the position of the building, it melts as it gets closer to the left.

Animation:

We got some animation working with the 2D animation kit from Unity. We got some simple dance poses ready to use for testing and an idle and walk cycle.

For preparing the animation, we cut up the characters into seperate parts and then combine it again in our Unity game project.

Game progress:

Besides art a lot of coding has also been done for our game. More of the UI is functional now. Controller input has now been configured. You are now able to play DisCool with either a keyboard or playstation/Xbox controller. For the control input, see our main page.


Added functionalities:

- Beat Indicator! Now we have beat indicators on top of the screen that moves according to the current songs BPM. Currently, they move like a metronome. We'll also add irregular beats such as drum fills.

- Score system. The Player will gain 100 points upon completing a combo. If all the combo pieces were done while the beat indicator is green, so on the beat, the player will also receive a +1 multiplier. So the multiplier will be x2, and they will receive +200 points. Later on , if a player completes another combo but this time with all pieces not on the beat, the multiplier will reset to x1.
