Devlog Week 7 - Production Sprint 2 week 1


Hey guys!

New Sprint:

Welcome to a new development sprint! Last week we talked about finishing our first sprint and starting a new one. So that means we start with a whole new sprint this week! This sprint we are going to continue with making the game feel like a whole cohesive and adding more features and game mechanics. Next sprint we are going to polish whatever we have and make the game feel more complete.

Development:

Challenges!

We got a challenge system working. Before a run you select a challenge you would like to do. A challenge gives you a passive bonus after you have  completed it. Currently we have two challenges but more are in the works.

Shoes:

After the challenge selection you will also selects a type of shoe you would like to play with. Different shoe types gives you a certain boost effect but at the cost of a disadvantage. You are also able to select a default shoe type without any advantages or disadvantages. 

Art

Enemy walking

We finally got our first enemy walking, Spikey! He sure is bobbing his head to the beat.


UI

This week we also updated the user interface more to our liking. We thought that this design will be more clear and easier to read. We also put in some cool noisy shading and gradients. We are still going with the jukebox inspired theme.


Background houses and trees:


This week we were also busy making a more coherent background for our game. We chose to give our 3D assets subtle gradients from bottom to top in order to not draw too much attention from them player. The players has to focus on the pattern combinations anyway.
